Search Engine Optimization

What is Search Engine Optimization [SEO]?

SEO is the industry [buzz] term for enhancing a websites "search engine friendliness". This is a great place to start your marketing campaign. By optimizing your site for search engine crawlers (aka "bots"), you can help increase your ranking within the "organic" (non-sponsored) result listings.

Many companies will tell you they have the "secret" to getting listed high in the search engines by "optimizing" your site. Beware of these outlandish guarantees! While it is possible to "optimize" a website for better search results, there is unfortunately, no single factor or secret backdoor that will drive your site to a top 10 ranking in the "organic" result set. The reason is both simple and complex at the same time. The major search engines (Yahoo and Google) use a combination of titles, keywords, keyword relavency, page content, links etc... to rank sites in the index. The algorithems used in the ranking are top secret and thus, there is no magic bullet. Please don't take our word for it, read for yourself:

  • How is Intellutions different?

Intellutions takes an honest approach to search engine optimization. Each website is different. We have clients come to us with websites that are simply not search engine friendly. We make the appropriate enhancements and measure the results throughout the process. In other cases, we have clients with optimized websites in very competitive markets, where even an enhanced website does not achieve a high ranking. In these cases, we try to be realistic and look for alternatives such as "Pay Per Click" [PPC] or Sponsored listings. A combination of both approaches often produces the best results.

What type of results should I expect?

You should expect continued improvement, over time, in the organic listings. The degree to which your site improves in the listings depends heavily on your keyword competition. Setting realistic expectations is very important for both Intellutions and our client.
